Buyers

We offer several ways to bid on auction items. Regardless of your chosen method, whether in-person, online, absentee or telephone, registration is required beforehand.

Buyers Premium

A Buyers Premium is a fee added to the hammer price for all lots sold at auction. Our Buyers Premium is 16.5% (including GST). For example, if you bid $100, an additional $16.50 will be added to the total hammer price. Additionally, online bidding will incur a 2.5% surcharge on the total hammer price.

Professional Packing and Postage Service

We offer packing and shipping via Australia Post for most items (excluding mirrors or oversized items). Costs range from $10 to $50 for professional packing plus postage cost. All parcels are sent with signature on delivery, insurance is optional or automatically added to your invoice if your purchases exceed $500.

Successful online and absentee bidders can collect from our Brisbane office, via appointment.

Absentee

We offer a convenient absentee bidding service if you wish to participate in our auctions but cannot attend in person. Simply complete the absentee bidding form, (see Forms & Catalogues). This form allows you to specify your maximum bid for each item of interest. The auctioneer will then represent you throughout the bidding process, ensuring your bids are placed up to your predetermined limits. Bidding commences at the second-highest absentee bid received, at no time is your maximum bid revealed publicly. To ensure your absentee bid is considered, submissions must be received two days before the auction. We cannot be held responsible for missed bids due to late registration.

Telephone

Graham Lancaster Auctions offers a convenient telephone bidding service for items with a minimum estimate of $500. We will call you before your desired lots are auctioned, allowing you to bid as if you were present in the auction room. A staff member will call you shortly before your lot(s) come up for auction, and you can bid live over the phone. You’ll be informed of your success during the call and receive your invoice via email or post within 2-3 working days.

Please note this service is limited by the number of bidders we can manage. Keep your phone nearby on auction day and answer all calls, as we may call from a private number. It is your responsibility to be available when your lot is offered. Graham Lancaster Auctions is not liable if you fail to answer our call or face technical difficulties, which may result in missing your chance to bid. If you expect any issues with your phone or availability, consider placing an absentee bid.

Proxy

Graham Lancaster Auctions offers proxy bidding as a convenient option for those unable to attend the auction in person. Your designated proxy will bid on your behalf, but they must act as if you are present and have personally inspected the items beforehand. Please note that items won through proxy bidding cannot be returned for “Not as Described” claims.

To ensure a smooth experience, your proxy’s bids will be linked to their bidder number unless you register as a separate bidder. We can also assist you in making alternative arrangements for payment and collection on the auction day, should your proxy be unavailable. Simply discuss these options with our team beforehand.
